Starting with a vision to revolutionize shrimp farming, we've grown into a producer of high-quality shrimp seeds, committed to innovation, sustainability, and supporting farmers. Alpha Hatchery is designed to ensure good bio-security, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and the implementation of the better Standard Operating Procedures.
Alpha hatchery initially focused on Penaeus monodon, but shifted to vannamei production in 2009-2010. We are proud to have received the MPEDA Award for Excellence as the Best Vannamei Hatchery. Our hatcheries operate across a total area of 23.5 acres, comprising Unit 1 and Unit 2 spread over 20.5 acres and Unit 3 covering 3 acres.

Integrated Approach To Aquaculture
Water Quality
Water quality is a critical factor in shrimp farming, as it directly impacts the health, growth, and overall productivity of shrimp. At Alpha hatchery, we conduct regular water quality testing to assess key parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and ammonia levels. This allows us to fastly identify any deviations from optimal conditions and take corrective measures. Our hatchery is equipped with advanced seawater purification technologies, featuring an ultra-purity filtration system and integrated UV purification to maintain the highest standards of water quality and create the optimal environment for healthy shrimp growth and development.
Broodstock
Our vannamei broodstock are crucial to our operations. Alpha imports SPF Litopenaeus vannamei broodstock from the USA. The broodstock is quarantined at RGCA, Chennai and handed over only if it’s free from all pathogens. Imported squid, polychaetes, krill etc used as feed for broodstocks to enhance their nutritional profile. Strict biosecurity protocols are followed throughout the acclimatization and maturation process to ensure optimal health and reproductive performance. Our broodstock management focuses on maintaining genetic quality, disease resistance, and consistent larval output. Regular health screening and nutritional monitoring further support superior nauplii production.
Feed
The feeding regimes are based on the specific requirements of the various larval stages, backed by frequent and detailed examinations of the feeding activity of the larvae in each tank. Larval feed typically includes microalgae, imported supplemental feeds along with enriched Artemia nauplii. These nutrient-rich feeds support the larvae's growth and development through various stages. Artificial feeds such as Hipro L and Hipro E, which are specialized, high-quality, and easily digestible feed designed for post-larvae stages, are used in our hatcheries to supplement larval nutrition and support healthy growth. This ensures consistent survival rates and uniform larval quality across batches.
